【Macroscopic Features】 The medicinal material appears as irregular, slightly flattened masses with finger-like branches, measuring 4–18 cm in length and 1–3 cm in thickness. The surface is yellowish-brown or grayish-brown, marked with concentric rings (annular nodes), and the tips of the branches bear stem scars or buds. It is brittle and easily broken, revealing a pale yellow fracture surface with a distinct endodermis ring and scattered vascular bundles. It has a strong aromatic odor and a pungent, spicy taste.
